We have developed a grant-making process that allows us to prioritize our time, effort, and money so the P2C Foundation can have the deepest-possible impact in the community. Our approach to giving can be summarized in four steps:
First, our leadership team establishes giving priorities on an annual basis. The P2C Foundation supports both immediate and long-term needs; not all monies raised will be granted during the same year. Our most aggressive campaigns may take a few years to see to fruition, but we are committed to long-term projects, some of which may have a profound impact on the community.
Second, we solicit requests for grants that support our priorities through a formal Request for Donation (RFD) process. Most grants are provided to other non-profit organizations or partners -- groups that in turn provide support to beneficiaries. The P2C Foundation believes that grant money will be best spent using the expertise of other established organizations that serve the public. We consider our grantees as partners, working toward a common goal.
Third, with that partnership comes a shared accountability that grants are implemented, tracked, and benchmarked against the interests and passions of the P2C Foundation. We demand ethical behavior and treat each other as valued players. We continuously measure the impact of our gifts and the ways in which they are implemented. Internally, we then match the results of our partners against the P2C Foundation’s annual goals to measure levels of success.
Fourth, we use continuous process improvement and adjust our strategy. Like many organizations, the P2C Foundation is an organic body that evolves and learns from prior experiences. We act on the results of our research and determine the future course of grant-making.
